Vegas and Drew's Birthday

Wow...I am so behind on life right now. I don't know what is happening but I feel like I have so much to do but no desire to do any of it. I guess that's what happens around here when the weather starts getting warmer.

Anyway...three weeks ago I drove home and surprised my family with a little visit. No one at my house knew I was coming home (just Sarah and Cydni) so I was really excited. Matthew was the one to answer the door. He looked at me and said, "why are you here?" I was expecting an excited reaction or a hug or SOMETHING but no. Just confusion. haha That's ok...I still loved being home and I am pretty sure my family enjoyed it too.

That weekend was Drew's birthday. The big 18. He had a bunch of friends over on Saturday night to celebrate so, on Friday, I helped my mom get ready for everything.

My favorite treat at the party was this flavored popcorn from this cute new store in Vegas called the Popcorn Girl. They have every flavor you can think of. It's incredible and it tastes so freaking good! For Drew's party we had six flavors...white chocolate, spicy buffalo wings (my favorite), watermelon, green apple, caramel corn, and blueberry.

It's colorful and delicious. A super fun idea for any party I think.

On Friday my mom and I also got the decorations for Drew's cake. He just wanted a yellow cake with chocolate frosting...but we wanted to make it a little unique. We stole this idea from one of the cake books at Jo-Ann's.

We melted chocolate and then painted it on the inside of mini-cupcake holders so it cooled in the ribbed shape of a cupcake holder. Then we baked mini-cupcakes to go inside of them. Then...we iced them and decorated the cake with them. (oh and when I say 'we' I mostly mean my mom...I am really good at watching) I think they turned out super cute and of course they were delicious.

Drew decorated the party with a Transformers theme. He had Transformers party supplies and balloons in Transformers colors. One of his gifts was even a Transformers 'laptop'. Super funny. He loved it of course.

On Sunday Drew had his family party. This was probably my favorite part of the weekend. I love being around my family. My extended family is all so close I consider them part of my immediate family. Drew got his luggage, some new clothes, tools (in a way cool green color...they totally beat my blue ones...but I guess color does not determine function and mine work incredibly well) and other fun stuff.

Drew with some of the cousins (probably the ones that would cooperate for a picture at that point) showing off his tools.

I love going home and it was even better to be able to celebrate a birthday while I was home. I don't know when I will get to go home next (Drew's graduation maybe? my birthday?) so I really cherish the time I get to spend there.

HAPPY (very belated by now) BIRTHDAY DREW!

p.s. this is my 100th post! thanks for reading all!!!
