Stuck at Sundace

Friday afternoons often include a quick trip up to Sundance to do some boarding. This Friday, was no exception, but it turned out to be a little different than any other trip. It was snowing so hard when we got there that I couldn't see anyone at the top of the mountain. It was almost like I was riding blindfolded.

Me, Erik, and Jess on the lift. It was so cold and windy that we had our bandannas on - I'm on the left in case you couldn't tell.

Even though it was freezing and very windy, the powder was great. I had a great time riding and it didn't even hurt when I fell (not that that happens very often...). I know this picture doesn't look like I'm doing much, but I promise I was moving at the time.

The snow kept coming and the roads down the mountain got pretty dangerous. As we were trying to leave we got the news that a few cars had slid off the road, which meant our way out was blocked while they tried to clean up. We went into the cafe and had some dinner when we heard more news - the cars were cleared out of the way but an avalanche had fallen, blocking the road. So, we settled into our chairs and spent the next couple of hours playing cards and just relaxing.

Jess and I in the cafe waiting for the road to be cleared so we could finally go home.

Luckily, Jess had some cards in her bag so we played a few card games and then tried to do some building. My card tower was two stories until I made the mistake of exhaling while I admired what I had accomplished so far. Yeah, that didn't go over too well...everyone's tower was flattened.
